Hello Everyone!

I am a Mechanical Engineer working as a Fresher(Graduate Engineer Trainee) in an Italian Auto Ancillary. The company is great and while working here, I've developed some interest in Operations. I've been responsible for maintaining and analyzing the KPIs in Balance Score Card. So while doing all this, I've been interacting with all the departments of the firm and I'm quite enjoying what I do here. I've also been selected in an IT Firm which has a better reputation than the company in which I'm working now. Also, the atmosphere of an IT sector company is generally great! Since, I've gain some interest in Operations, I'm thinking of pursuing MBA in operations in future. I am not able to figure out which company to join i.e. should I remain in this company or should I join the IT firm? Would it matter later while giving post MBA interviews(If I pursue MBA) that I have some exp. in an IT firm? According to me it wouldnt matter much since MBA operations is a generic domain and it is not restricted to only manufacturing domains.

Please someone help me in deciding what should I do!

abhi1211,

Thanks for sharing your situation with us. We have an article that will help you determine when/if you should get your MBA. I'm looking forward to hearing what our experts will suggest which company you should work for.

Is An MBA Worth It? (Other MBA questions are answered in the links at the bottom of the post.)

Hi abhi1211,

I'm a CAREEREALISM Career Expert, and my suggestion is to start at the end and work your way backwards. If the goal is an MBA in Operations, the IT company may be more relevant and, therefore, compliment your application. What is the role/responsibility at the IT company?

You're building a story for the admissions officers, and you should pursue the company that connects the dots.

Thanks Michael and Nick for your reply. Michael my role in the IT firm would be much inclined towards the Software part like software testing and development. But Michael what makes you say that exp. in this IT firm would be more relevant?

people say that accountants always find a job/ they are in demand. even so, what type of places tend to hire more accountants. which countries have plenty of demand for them?
also, what qualities are particularly important for an accountant?
