Seeking some advice. I am in my mid-40's, mid-career, professional level.

I worked at companies such as one of the big 4, a large technology company, and a large bank - professional / executive level - was last laid off from my last job around mid-2012 wherein my manager claimed poor performance, following my disability leave of 2 months.

I am still unemployed, and it's almost 18 months. A  number of consulting companies now don't even want to present me to their clients citing the long gap. I have been to several interviews, but noting has clicked. I want to do something meaningful, and I have realized during my disability, that life can be unpredictable.

What are my options ? Do I need and can I obtain personal advice from your company versus posting details on a public forum ? I also have to think about whether I can afford it.  Bit I had emailed and someone recommended I post here.

Advice is welcome.

This post should be a good start toward addressing the gap in your work.

Maybe you should try a practice interview with someone currently working at a company you'd like to work for, a former coworker, a friend or family member and see if they can detect anything wrong with your interviews. Here are a few interview tips to get you started.

I look forward to seeing what the career experts suggest for you. Good luck!
